Madge Access Switch ISDN Network Simulation
|
The Madge OBIU and OBIU-U are individual plug-in modules that can be inserted in
either the Madge AccessSwitch 60 (6 slot) or AccessSwitch 200 (20 slot) chassis.
Each OBIU module supports eight individual Basic Rate ISDN (BRI) interface
connections. Each BRI interface supports two 64 Kbps B channels and one 16 Kbps
D channel for an aggregate data rate of 128 Kbps full duplex connection.

The Madge Octal Basic Rate ISDN interface Unit (OBIU) consists of a single eight-port module that can be inserted into either the Madge AccessSwitch 200 (20 slot) or the AccessSwitch 60 (six slot) chassis. The OBIU modules can be used in any combination to provide powerful call switching capabilities among T1, ISDN Basic or Primary Rate, or E1 Primary Rate trunking, and V.35/RS449 high-speed synchronous interfaces.
Each port of the OBIU interface module provides S or T network termination using four wire twisted pair connections over distances up to 3,000 feet. The OBIU-U modules provide network side LT termination of the U reference interface using two wire twisted pair connections over distances up to 18,000 feet.
Full Multimedia CapabilityEach OBIU module supports eight individual BRI interface connections. Each BRI interface supports two 64 kilobit per second B channels, and one 16 kilobit per second D channel, for an aggregate data rate of 128 kilobits per second full duplex connection. Full multimedia capability is supported enabling voice, video, and data communication over BRI networks.
Multiple OBIU modules can be supported in the same AccessSwitch base unit for applications requiring more than eight BRI ports. The AccessSwitch 200 chassis can accommodate up to 19 modules for a total of 152 BRI connections. A maximum of five modules can be supported by the AccessSwitch 60 chassis for a total of 40 BRI connections. An additional AccessSwitch chassis can be cascaded for applications requiring larger numbers of BRI ports.
