OpScan 21
The OpScan 21 system offers the latest in sophisticated technical design for
speed, accuracy and easy operation. the innovative system includes a
document transport for reading OMR forms; a microcomputer configuration complete
with Scan Tools software from NCS, CRT, keyboard, printer and attractive
furniture for housing the components.
Specific Features of the OpScan 21
system include:-
High Speed Document Transport
The High speed document transport of the OpScan 21 system allows users to
process 7,500 or 10,000 sheets per hour, depending on the model
selected. Both sides of the sheet are reflectively scanned and the output
data is sent online to the microcomputer. Responses are measure using 16
levels of light/dark which allows the system to accurately differentiate valid
marks from smudges and erasures.
Automatic
Feed
Operators simply place a stack of 750 forms in the input hopper and
press the READY button. When the tray is empty, a message appears on
the CRT that it's time to reload.
Open Feed Path Design
The open feed path design of the OpScan 21 document transport makes
unrestricted access safe, quick and easy.
Three Output Stackers
Three output stackers, holding 750, 250 and 50 sheets respectively, allow
users to direct forms via the software program into differing stackers based on
scanning results. This feature is especially useful for directing
forms that are completed incorrectly or need editing or rescanning.
Microprocessor Controlled Picker and Multiple Sheet
Detector
Documents of varying paper weight (50 to 80 lb. offset) can be scanned.
Erroneous data, caused by multiple sheet feeding, is eliminate with the multiple
sheet detector.
Active Deskew Station
This feature detects whether or not a document is skewed and straightness it
for proper processing without halting the scanning process.
Optional Transport Printer
For added utility, a printer can be installed to print a alpha/numeric
messages, batch or serial numbers, validation flags, scores etc. on documents
immediately after they are scanned. The printing of characters on the
sheet has no effect on scanning throughput.
Forms Compatibility
Forms used on other NCS Sentry scanners are compatible with the OpScan 21
system.
Modular Furniture
The furniture housing the system may be configured to meet your particular
operational and environmental needs. The input hopper, output stackers,
operator controls and documents to be processed can be placed in close
proximity.
"Ready" Button for Operation
For added convenience, operator can choose to start or stop the scanning
process via a key on the microcomputer keyboard or a single READY button on the
document transport.
Minimal Maintenance
The OpScan 21 system allows access to the roller assemblies and read heads so
they can by periodically cleaned and paper dust/chaff removed. Reader
performance is constantly monitored and specific reasons for halts are
immediately displayed to the operator.
Microcomputer
The full-configuration design of the OpScan 21 system means users can scan
documents- manage analyze, store and correct data- all with one system.
Operational messages are attractively displayed in color using a combination of
graphics and English.
Scan Tools Application Software
NCS ScanTools software dramatically improves user's ability to develop new
scanning applications and make full use of their system investment. With
the software, no special programming languages or skill are needed. The
software is menu-driven and allows users to maintain files and define scanable
documents - plus scan, edit, store, validate and display data if desired.
For added value, the software converts data into common formats for
incorporation into other commonly used microsoftware packages such as dBase III,
Lotus and SPSS.
